Sustainability: Keeping Things We Like
From Going Away

What is "sustainability"? Try using it in a sentence. Now try it without sounding like some kind of corporate drone.

We're not saying it's a bad word. In fact, it might be too good. It's a euphemism -- a way of sweeping something unpleasant under an overly ornate rug.

We're also not saying that sustainability is a bad concept. Quite the opposite, really. It's just that we live and work in a culture that's polluted by as much jargon as junk mail. And if we're not careful, the words we toss out there become diluted -- and then garbage.

So that's why we're here. Because Sappi -- the makers of Lustro Opaque Environmental -- and Clampitt Paper Company decided to do like good communicators do and cut through the clutter.

As you'll see in this series of booklets, "sustainability" simply means, "keeping the things we like from going away."

And for you as a person who works with paper, that can be as easy as choosing a sustainable product from a responsible merchant.
